ACER PALMATUM SHIN DESHOJO

Those vibrant and glowing colours still persist on the Shin Deshojo.

Again this was posted in the wrong bloody blog, lol. Apologies.

ACER PALMATUM SHIRAZZ

Damn it?! These were posted in the wrong blog?! LOL.

Going green you see.

ACER PALMATUM DISSECTUM SEIRYU in JULY

I still want a purple one of the along with a variegated one whose name escapes me right now along with Orangeola.

I do suspect however that Orangeola is not really that different from this one, in Autumn at any rate?!

ACER PALMATUM AKA SHIGITATSU SAWA in JULY

Not so much of the peachy red flushes of colour so I have pruned back the conifers that partly shade this and the Shirazz along with a few others!

I will shift a few things about but now have to be careful as they are saying very hot and sunny July now and as it as only the 2nd July today?!

TYPICAL?!

LMAO!

ACER PALMATUM SANG KAKU in JULY

Note the yellowish tips to leaves and had intended to look for a variety with MORE yellow and did find one or two but not in UK!

ACER PALMATUM ORIDONO NISHIKI in JULY

My Oridono Nishiki leaves still attractive.

ACER PALMATUM TSUMA GAKI in JULY

Here is my Tsuma Gaki and a little lighter than normal for this time of year. Still a great deal darker than the SPring though and a shame they do not keep that Spring colour as the green is very vibrant and lighter even than my Shirasawanum?!

A great weeping look when leaves first emerge too!!

Tsuma Gaki means Painted Fingernails.

ACER PALMATUM SHIRAZZ GONE GREEN

This is my Shirazz Japanese Maple, also known as Gwen's Rose Delight.

Turned green likely due to pretty crappy weather and conifers needing pruning, lol.

Pruned and sun is OUT! :)

ACER PALMATUM AKA SHIGITATSU SAWA

Normally with more of the red flushes over the leaves and will get more shots and videos of this one throughout the year is my...

AKA SHIGITATSU SAWA

Very different shape to other maples and grows more laterally, sideways, as opposed to up.

ACER PALMATUM VIVIDUS IS LIKELY SHIN DESHOJO

Right now vividus is NOT what this is called, I just conjured the name, in fact I do not know.

But if FORCED to guess the variety I would go out on a limb and say that this is Shin Deshojo and started out as this variety and at best I would only be HALF RIGHT, lol.

Might sound confusing but I will explain in the next post but I had forgotten how vivid these get in full splendour but this only lasts a few weeks before it goes a darker red.

I am pretty sure I have a Deshojo and this one looks like a better version of it which is what the Shin part of the name means, new or better.

I realised when I took these pictures that along with another Ukigomo I need to find out for SURE what this is and buy another one this year!!

So you may guess at this that it looks EXACTLY as it does in the pictures which are not altered at all.

ACER PALMATUM ORIDONO NISHIKI

I never have been one to go for commonly available plants or animals, but I had also never been one to pass up ossessing such beauty either?!

Oridono nishiki is often seen in garden centres and this and Ukigomo, Ukigumo, or simply must haves above and beyond anything else!

This one being a good mix of large amounts of green with white and pink and with Ukigomo having nearly all pure white leaves but misted or splashed with green all you need for a little dreamy looking forest is an Orange Dream/Katsura and a Bloogood.

Contrast people....CONTRAST!

For me, once you have followed and become familiar with my rules on these guys, I would always suggest four different colours and thse would be the first four.

Together they look amazing, not too many to keep an eye on and as you learn and keep them you can then spot more and its fun to work out which colours to place next to each other, not good for your back after a few years and they are hefty beasts, lol.

I like to keep the dissectums separate from the main Maples but grouped together.

ACER PALMATUM SEIRYU

Some more shots of my Dissected Maple called Seiryu.

A little oddity this one and there are just two other Dissectum I would like to acquire. One is Orangeola and the other is actually drak with light patches and likely a variegated dissectum?!

It is the only one I came across that lloked like a variegated dissectum and in the local gardening club they had them but were not small nor cheap, lol.

Cannot recall the name now, not that it matters I would recognise it from 50 yards away but I think it was something like Taisho Nishiki, or something like that.

Seiryu here seems to tolerate more of the direct sunlight than any other Maple I own?! Very strange even for a dissectum?!

THE SHOW OF THE SHIRAZZ PART TWO

Tricky toi get a good shape out of this one I find but I do like mine.

I may place it somewhere else next year get a bit more vivid coral pink-red colour as with this one the lower leaves are much deeper than the upper leaves meaning more sunlight means more vivid colours.

But I did want to be careful with this for a couple years as it was in a right old state when I bought it!

THE SHOW OF THE SHIRAZZ PART ONE

Well I warned you it was showy and I warned you it was going to be a little bit of a spectacle too, lol.

My SHIRAZZ or otherwise known as Gwen's Rose Delight...

ACER SHIRASAWANUM JORDAN

I know you will not believe it but YES this is my Acer Shirasawanum from my earlier post just after I first bought it, lol.

Yes it did look sorry for itself and yes it did look like it was done for, lol.

Eh? What do you mean I did not do a post of my Shirasawanum?! I only just started?!

Hmm well maybe I didn't I cannot recall and cannot look so here are three new pictures of that same Japanese Maple that was about 18 inches high when I bought it....

Without actually measuring it and it is now mid May 2013 I would guess it is somwhere between 66 and 72 inches tall and looking like an overgrown Bonsai Tree, lol.

Yes OK it had been intended to look a little Bonsai in shape, lol.

VIDEO - ACER PALMATUM KAORI NISHIKI

One of the variegated maples with a deep shrimp pink colour.

Amyone hwho has seen the 'Butterfly' variety will ot it looks like that but Butterfly has no pink. There are a whole list of varieties frm Butterfly but with really deep pinks of different shades...

Beni Schichihenge
Taylor (completely and very light off white pink)

and sevral others whose names escape me but I will get around to those in time.

VIDEO - ACER PALMATUM BENI MAIKO

A nice deep red maple this one. The leaves eventually turn green in time but new ones always first appear red. Similar to the Deshojos.

Does not grow to humongous proportions and also a slow grower and this is a four year old seedling, lol.

VIDEO - ACER PALMATUM TSUMA GAKI (PAINTED FINGERNAILS)

One of the most striking Japanese Maples I have is this Tsuma Gaki.

Certainly when it produces its first leaves they are a brilliant jade colour, darkened off in this video I am afraid, and have this drooping or weeping habit not seen in any of my others?!
